Alex Scharaschkin

Director of Research and Compliance

Alex was a member of CERP's advisory group for four years before becoming Director in 2014. He was previously Director for Regulation, Consumers and Competition at the National Audit Office (NAO) in London, where he led the NAO’s work examining the Government’s use of markets in the private and public sectors.

He is interested in the use of statistical and economic methods in value-for-money assessment, and in the nature of evidential support for conclusions more generally. In the 90s, Alex worked as a research officer at the Associated Examining Board, where he carried out and published research on the nature of awarding judgements and comparing examination standards over time. He was previously Principal Officer for Statistical Analysis at QCA and a researcher at London University’s Institute of Education.
