Ben Jones

Ben first joined the Joint Matriculation Board, a predecessor of AQA, in 1990 and has held a variety of research posts as the organisation merged and developed. Since returning to AQA’s Centre for Education Research and Practice in 2007, after a three year career break managing a small Christian education charity, he has held his current post, the primary purpose of which is to be responsible for the effective and secure provision of the awarding process and ensure confidence in AQA's awards. Ben represents AQA on the Joint Council for Qualifications’ Standards and Technical Advisory Group (STAG), and on Ofqual’s Standards and Technical Issues Group (STIG) and its Reform Technical Working Group (RTWG). Before joining the organisation, Ben spent three years in Tonga, as Adviser in Educational Assessment to the Government, and five years as Research Associate in the Division of Education at Sheffield University. He has a BA in Economics and an MSc in Social Research Methods.
