Ben Smith

Research Assistant

Ben graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2014 with an MSci in Psychology and Psychological Research. He briefly worked as a research assistant in a West Midlands prison, before joining CERP in September 2014. Ben’s research activities largely focused on performance statistics for AQA’s specifications: assessing their impact, and identifying improvements. He worked with colleagues on developing a suite of marking reliability statistics for AQA's assessments. He was also interested in fairness of assessment and worked with Ruth Johnson to investigate differential item functioning in GCSE and A-level question papers.

Ben left CERP in January 2018 to take up a role with AlphaPlus.
