Ian Stockford

Ian joined CERP in September 2009 as a Principal Research Manager. Before this, he held the position of Senior Research Fellow in the Applied Optics Research Group at the University of Nottingham. His research was in the fields of biomedical optics and his experience ranges from the development of numerical photon propagation models through to the realisation of clinical instrumentation for diagnosis and assessment. He has a Masters degree in Electronic Engineering and a PhD in Optical Engineering, both from the University of Nottingham. Ian’s research at CERP focused on assessment quality, specifically grade classification accuracy at the assessment and qualification level, and schemes for monitoring marking reliability. In 2014 Ian left CERP to take up a position as Deputy Director of Research and Analysis at Ofqual. He has since returned to AQA as Director of Qualifications Strategy.
